State House Press Conference

Board members attended a press conference before the Joint Committee on Financial Services held a hearing for the ACCESS bill currently in committee in the Massachusetts legislature. The bill, whose full title is An Act Advancing Contraceptive Coverage and Economic Security in our State, requires all health insurers in Massachusetts to cover every FDA approved contraceptive method at no cost to the patient. It also cuts out possibilities for typical loopholes that insurers might use to get out of covering costs such as step therapy. The bill not only serves as a safegaurd against a potential Affordable Care Act repeal but also codifies current Massachusetts policies to make sure that patients are getting the comprehensive care that works best for them.
